The Madras High Court has observed that non-Hindus wishing to enter Agamic temples are required to sign an undertaking affirming their faith in the deity. The bench noted that individuals bearing non-Hindu religious symbols cannot be permitted entry unless they formally declare their belief, while also expressing disapproval of photo sessions conducted inside sacred temple premises.

Addressing the legal framework governing these institutions, the court referred to the implementation of the Tamil Nadu Temple Entry Authorisation Act along with the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act. It cited an instance involving Chief Minister Vijay signing the official temple register as an illustrative example of adherence to protocol.

Furthermore, the bench clarified that Agamic temples strictly maintain traditional entry norms. Under these long-standing guidelines, specific access restrictions regarding the sanctum sanctorum, or Garbha Griha, remain applicable to all visitors, including other Hindus who do not follow the specific ritual requirements.
