New Delhi: Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the updated Tiger 1200, bringing significant changes to the adventure motorcycle's engine, chassis, suspension, styling and technology. The new model is scheduled to arrive in India in March 2027, with the range comprising the GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants, while prices will be announced closer to the commencement of bookings.

The updated Tiger 1200 receives a revised 1,160cc T-Plane triple engine, now producing 158bhp at 9,250rpm, an increase of 8bhp over the outgoing model. Triumph states that the engine delivers more torque at lower engine speeds to improve low-speed manoeuvrability and overall tractability. Updates to the cylinder head, pistons, valves, fuel injection and exhaust system are aimed at enhancing combustion efficiency and performance.

The six-speed gearbox and shaft drive have also been revised for smoother operation, more precise gear shifts and improved refinement. Changes to the engine crankshaft, balancer shaft and camshaft profiles further target reduced vibration and more progressive power delivery. Additionally, gearing has been altered to reduce crawl speed by 6km/h, giving riders greater control during slow-speed manoeuvres.

One of the most notable additions is the introduction of SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension, which automatically lowers the seat by 30mm as the motorcycle comes to a stop. The system restores optimum ride height as the bike moves off, helping riders maintain a secure footing without compromising the riding position on the move. The seat height can be further adjusted through a two-position mechanism and an optional low seat, dropping as low as 790mm at a standstill. The suspension also includes a Centre Stand Assist function and three selectable damping settings.

The updated adventure bike features a 19-inch front wheel, a 17-inch rear wheel and 200mm of suspension travel at both ends. The GT Pro utilizes cast aluminium wheels for a road-focused setup, while the Rally Explorer employs side-laced spoked wheels for off-road performance. Up to eight riding modes are available depending on the variant, including Road, Rain, Eco, Sport, Off-road, configurable Rider modes, and Off-road Pro on Rally models.

Technology upgrades include a new 7-inch HD touchscreen developed with Bosch, incorporating wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The display supports navigation, music and messaging applications, backed by new switchgear, voice-control functionality, and a cooled waterproof phone compartment with a 15W USB-C charging port.

Another major safety addition is the inclusion of front and rear Bosch radar technology, enabling Advanced Rider Assistance Systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Group Ride Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Riding Distance Assist, Emergency Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Rear Distance Warning. These systems work alongside optimized cornering ABS and traction control via a six-axis IMU.

The motorcycle also receives redesigned bodywork, a compact LED projector headlight with cornering functionality, and thicker seat foam for enhanced rider and pillion comfort. Heated seats and grips come standard across the range, with fuel tank capacities set at 20 litres for the GT Pro and 30 litres for the Rally Explorer.
