Instead of the familiar “& Sons” accompanying a business name, the artist’s signature read “Swapan Paul and Daughter”.Instagram user Prochi Stories shared a video of the discovery, which he made at a pandal in Hatkhola. The clip zoomed in on the details beneath the beautifully crafted Durga idol, where the name of the artist and his daughter appeared together on a small signboard. The unusual wording stood out, particularly because business names and makers’ signatures often mention sons when acknowledging family involvement. Here, however, the father had chosen to include his daughter, making sure she was recognised alongside him.In the caption, Prochi Stories said the simple gesture had touched him, describing it as a small but powerful message of love, pride and equality.
He also appealed to viewers to help him find the father-daughter duo, so their story could reach more people.Watch the video here:The gesture found appreciation among viewers, with one pointing out that the post was simply about celebrating the special bond between a father and his daughter.Another observed that eastern India had some wonderful examples of inclusivity.A viewer who lived in the neighbourhood also expressed pride at seeing the artist’s signature acknowledge his daughter, calling it a particularly meaningful detail at their local Durga Puja celebration.- Ends
