The Mysuru Dasara Drone Show achieved a new Guinness World Record when 3,473 drones illuminated the night sky to shape a massive dancing peacock over the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap on October 18. India's national bird was brought to life in the sky through precision engineering during the festive events.
BotLab Dynamics, a firm incubated at IIT Delhi, published footage of the record-setting aerial performance on Instagram. The exhibition was arranged by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited, known as CESC, as a key component of the ongoing Mysuru Dasara festivities.
The recorded footage displayed a stunning peacock constructed by thousands of synchronized drones, simulating fluid feather movements as the formation shifted across the darkness. The spectacle officially captured the Guinness World Record for the largest aerial display of a bird formed by drones or multirotors.
In the caption accompanying their social media post, BotLab Dynamics commemorated the milestone, confirming they had claimed yet another prestigious recognition during the Mysuru Dasara event sequence.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar also highlighted the accomplishment on social media by posting a video clip that displayed various formations from the performance. The sequence featured multiple visual themes, including a butterfly, a peacock, a lion, the Chakra, and Lord Krishna.
In his statement, Shivakumar noted that Mysuru Dasara consistently demonstrates how cultural heritage can merge with modern technology. He underscored the remarkable peacock arrangement and the Guinness certification achieved by CESC, characterizing the presentation as a showcase of Karnataka's inventive spirit, heritage, and forward momentum.
He further labeled the milestone as a source of state pride and an unforgettable highlight of the Dasara season. The feat drew widespread acclaim online, with spectators commending the striking visuals and offering praise to the BotLab Dynamics team for their engineering success.
