Delhi Police Deploy Body Cameras To Capture Protests And Gather Evidence
Delhi Police personnel have been equipped with body-worn cameras ahead of scheduled protests in the national capital to monitor movements and maintain law and order. The cameras function in both daylight and dark conditions. According to the police, lower-ranking personnel have now been provided with the equipment, expanding on previous usage restricted to officers of Assistant Commissioner of Police rank and above. The step aims to tackle allegations of police brutality, manhandling, and sexual assault during protests, while preventing the spread of selectively edited videos on social media platforms. The recorded footage will serve as official evidence in potential court proceedings and protect personnel during confrontations.
