Delhi Fortified, Metro Shut, Protesters Detained Ahead Of CJP Protest

A massive security crackdown was witnessed across Delhi as police fortified the Jantar Mantar area and Connaught Place following a protest call issued by the CJP. Security personnel detained multiple demonstrators, including women, as they approached Jantar Mantar early in the morning without official permission. Over 6,500 police personnel were deployed within a 1.5-kilometre radius of the protest venue, with total force deployment surpassing 20,000 across the capital. Authorities set up 12 detention centres, suspended mobile internet within a four-kilometre radius, cancelled trains to two stations, and closed 45 Delhi Metro stations to curb gatherings. Barricades were placed across key connecting routes in central and Lutyens' Delhi. Despite the curbs, several demonstrators attempted to reach the site demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. Delhi Police officers were also equipped with body cameras during operations.
