Delhi Police Detain Protesters in Connaught Place; Rapid Action Force Deployed
Delhi Police have intensified security arrangements and barricaded central Delhi, particularly around Connaught Place, Sansad Marg, and Jantar Mantar, to stop an unauthorized protest call. Citing non-compliance with the required advance notice protocol, authorities denied permission for the gathering, declaring any assembly unlawful. Personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force, Central Armed Police Forces, and the Rapid Action Force have been deployed in large numbers across key transit points, including roads leading from the Hanuman Mandir and Shivaji Stadium. Multiple demonstrators attempting to reach the Jantar Mantar protest site have been detained and placed into buses. To prevent the dissemination of distorted videos and counter claims of misconduct, Delhi Police officers and lower-ranking personnel are equipped with body cameras alongside hundreds of hired videographers to document live interactions. Security forces remain on high alert across the New Delhi district, with vehicular traffic diverted and commercial establishments impacted as approximately seven thousand protesters are expected to gather.
