Model: Pearl RedTest started: May 2026/333kmCurrent ODO reading: 744kmTotal mileage: 411kmOverall efficiency: 30kmplTime to bid goodbye to one of my favourite long-term motorcycles in a long, long time. The X440 T is one of those few motorcycles that I’ve ridden both at the first ride event in Goa and as a long-termer with the same paint scheme!

I know for most of you, that won’t mean much, but to me, it was the perfect colour for the updated X440. Since we’re on the topic of paint schemes, let’s get design out of the way first.

Those subtle but effective updates made to the rear section do make a difference. There’s a lot more appeal to the overall look, thanks to that tweak.

Secondly, I like how this looks like a distilled version of the bigger Harleys, more so than earlier. One gripe I do have is that the tank on the logo should’ve kept ‘Harley-Davidson’ lettering instead of writing the whole name.

It’s nitpicking, yes, but it makes a whole lot of difference to those investing in the American brand. Think of the Bullet 350 logo on the tank, and give it a Harley flavour.

Throughout its tenure, the X440 T’s ride-by-wire throttle was also one of the highlights. Its power delivery felt unadulterated and fun on open roads and traffic-choked conditions alike.

There was a generous helping of torque, and fuel efficiency isn’t too bad either at 30kmpl. I loved the exhaust note as well; it felt distinct and deep, and I would often think about it once I was done with my riding stints.

Another aspect I liked were the bar-end mirrors; they look cool and fit the overall theme quite nicely. The ergos too were fairly comfortable, without being too demanding.

Lastly, the fact that one could switch off the traction control and turn off the rear ABS also made for some fun, interesting and memorable times.Subscribe to Auto Today Magazine - Ends
