Why is INS Vikrant's first Rafale landing a big deal?

India signed a Rs 63,000-crore deal with France in April 2025 to acquire 26 Rafale Marine jets, including 22 fighters and four trainers. Deliveries are expected to be completed by 2030.

The jets will strengthen the Navy’s carrier-based air power, supporting air defence and strikes against targets at sea and on land.
