New Delhi: A sharp political confrontation has erupted between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party over Delhi's deteriorating air quality and the ongoing issue of agricultural stubble burning.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann hit back at criticism regarding farm fires, rejecting claims that agricultural burning in Punjab is responsible for Delhi's pollution crisis. Mann alleged that accusations are being leveled even before the harvest season begins simply to defame Punjab and conceal governance failures in the national capital.
The latest war of words follows remarks from political opponents alleging that local authorities and police personnel in Punjab facilitated agricultural fires. In response, the Aam Aadmi Party strongly refuted the claims, asserting that police forces in the state were actually actively working to extinguish the blazes.
