Delhi Magistrate Releases CJP Leaders After 20-Hour Detention; Tight Security at Jantar Mantar
An executive magistrate in Delhi has ordered the release of three leaders from the Caucus of Indian People after more than 20 hours in preventive custody. CJP founder Abhijit Dipke and co-conveners Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by Delhi Police from their flight upon arrival in the national capital. The leaders were produced before the magistrate court at Delhi Cantonment Police Station, where release orders were issued as the preventive detention under bailable provisions ended without any FIR. Meanwhile, Delhi Police maintained heavy security deployments, including Central Armed Police Forces, anti-riot units, and Vajra vehicles around Jantar Mantar and Connaught Place. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 remain active across the New Delhi district, with authorities warning that attempts to gather or stage unauthorised demonstrations demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar would lead to fresh detentions.
