Tamil Nadu Drug Haul: Row Over TVK Leader Arrest, DMK Attack & Probe Demand
A major political row has erupted in Tamil Nadu following the arrest of former Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam functionary Bhupalan by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. Authorities seized 135 kilograms of drugs from his residence, leading to the arrest of Bhupalan and four associates involved in drug trafficking. Bhupalan, who served as a district secretary in Nagapattinam during elections, was ousted from all party positions after the seizure. The arrest triggered sharp criticism from the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, with Chief Minister MK Stalin demanding an investigation into the wider drug network and taking aim at the opposition party over alleged drug links.
