Lyricist Manoj Muntashir has found himself at the centre of social media criticism after sharing a song from Adipurush on the same day the team of Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming Ramayana released its new song, Mangal Rang. Several users questioned the timing of his post, with some bringing up the controversy surrounding the dialogues he wrote for the Prabhas-starrer.Muntashir, who wrote the lyrics and dialogues for Adipurush, shared the song Tu Hai Sheetal Dhara on X on October 25.
The post came as Ramayana unveiled Mangal Rang, prompting users to draw comparisons between the two films and question whether the timing was coincidental. One X user suggested that Muntashir was using the moment to bring attention back to the music of Adipurush. "Manoj Muntashir is way too clever for this. Bro is watching the new Ramayana song’s lyrics and composition get brutally roasted across social media, and this is the perfect time he chose to drop an Adipurush song," the user wrote.Another user responded to his post by reminding him of his involvement in the 2023 film's dialogues. “Someone, please remind Manoj Muntashir that he wrote the dialogues of Adipurush,” the comment read.
However, not all responses dismissed the film's music. One user said they appreciated its songs but felt the criticism of its dialogues could not be overlooked.
The user also recalled defending the film because its makers had said it was based on Valmiki's Ramayana."Sir, you are a devotee and a phenomenal writer and lyricist. However, the way you are trying to put things across does not seem right to me," the user wrote, while expressing hope that the message would not offend Muntashir.Manoj Muntashir shares another Adipurush song Muntashir also shared another song celebrating the wedding of Lord Ram and Sita.
Introducing the track, he wrote, “The auspicious wedding of Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita. Listen to a song on this too, then comment whatever your heart desires, you are welcome.”The post drew further criticism, with one user commenting, “Sorry to say but..Bahat ganda lag raha hai sir (Sorry to say, but it is looking very bad, sir)."Another user questioned why Muntashir's Adipurush songs were being brought back into the conversation around major song releases from Ramayana.
The user also referred to the lyricist's apology over the dialogues of Adipurush, which had faced widespread criticism after the film's release.“Dear Manoj Muntashir, you apologised for Adipurush’s dialogues after defending them. So why does it now seem that every major song release from Ramayan brings an Adipurush song back into the spotlight?
Is it merely a coincidence, or is there a message behind this pattern?” the user asked. The user added that they had always appreciated the music of Adipurush, describing its songs as emotional and memorable, but argued that the film's dialogues were a separate issue. The post also pointed to an earlier instance when Muntashir shared an Adipurush song following a release from Ramayana. When Ramayana released Jai Jai Ram on September 14, 2026, the lyricist shared Ram Siya Ram from Adipurush on his X account a day later. The latest posts have once again brought the two mythological films into the same social media conversation, with users debating the timing of Muntashir's uploads and revisiting the controversy surrounding Adipurush.Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush was released in theatres in June 2023, with Prabhas playing Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita and Saif Ali Khan as Raavan.
The film, inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, faced widespread criticism over its dialogues, visual effects and portrayal of the characters. Following the backlash, the makers revised some of the dialogues.
Manoj Muntashir, who wrote the film's dialogues and lyrics, later apologised for the hurt caused by certain lines.- Ends
