Actor Vijay Deverakonda on Monday shared a post addressing the trolling that he and his wife, actor Rashmika Mandanna, have been receiving following their appearance on Koffee With Karan 9. Reacting to the criticism surrounding their marriage, particularly the story of their proposal, the 37-year-old said he was "blessed" to have a "gloriously happy" marriage.

Towards the end of his Instagram post, the Ranbaali actor had a blunt message for his critics: keep their thoughts to themselves."Now, with absolutely no intended kindness or respect, everyone else can go f*** themselves (sic)," he wrote.Deverakonda also called Mandanna his "best friend," beginning his caption with: "My best friend, my wife, my woman. One of the most beautiful parts of my life that I got absolutely right (sic)."Referring to his revelation on Koffee With Karan that he had asked Mandanna to propose to him 100 times before agreeing to marry her, the actor added, "For all those concerned, We are both gloriously happy.

I am blessed. If its me and her against the world - so be it.

Big love to all those who celebrate love and the simplicity of living happily (sic)." Rashmika Mandanna's "2-cents" for criticsHis post came minutes after Mandanna shared a separate note on social media, offering her "little 2 cents" on the controversy. In a strongly worded, five-slide note, the actor said she would not have minded proposing to Vijay even 1,000 times, as she would continue to choose him and their life together.Addressing the proposal story at the centre of the controversy, Mandanna clarified that the conversation had indeed taken place, but the context was different from how it had been interpreted.

She wrote, "Yes, that conversation happened. But neither of us was looking for a grand proposal.

The conversation was about him wanting both of us to take the time and space to understand each other, to be sure that despite all the highs and lows, the joys and stresses of life, this was what we wanted and the right time for it. And we did.

We chose each other (sic)." Responding to the criticism that she appeared more invested in her husband than he was in her, Mandanna defended her feelings for Vijay, asking why being deeply in love had become a problem."And yes, I am OBSESSED with my man. When did that become a bad thing?

If I'm not IN LOVE with the man I'm marrying, then why in the world would I marry him (sic)?"She ended her note by saying that while critics were free to ridicule her, they should not drag her family into the controversy. "Bitch about me all you want, I can take it. But talking about my family without knowing them?

That's not feminism. That's bullying dressed up as feminism (sic)."Why are Vijay and Rashmika being trolled? The controversy erupted after the couple appeared on the second episode of Karan Johar-hosted Koffee With Karan Season 9.

Their conversation about their relationship and marriage prompted some viewers to question their chemistry, while others felt Vijay's account of the proposal came across as disrespectful towards Rashmika.During the episode, Rashmika recalled suggesting marriage while the two were sitting at an airport. She told Vijay, "Let's get married," to which he replied, "Okay, you ask me 100 times."Surprised by the revelation, Karan asked Rashmika, "You asked him a hundred times?" She responded, "I asked him for an entire year."Vijay explained that his response stemmed from his desire to ensure they did not rush into such an important decision.Reflecting on how his understanding of love had changed over the years, the actor said, "If you look at my past interviews, I always talked about love with disrespect and disbelief.

Like, I don’t believe in this concept, which was immature of me And I was also very clouded by my ambition. For many years, for me, if something was not serving the purpose of career, money and growth, it felt like you were distracting me from my purpose, and I needed to cut it off."He went on to explain that his feelings for Rashmika gradually grew from fondness into the realisation that he "needed" her in his life.Describing himself as a very "sensitive guy" beneath his rough exterior, Vijay said he had been hurt immensely in the past, and that the resulting fear had made him protective of himself."Which unfortunately she had to deal with, and now it's beautiful," he added.Vijay also revealed that he eventually proposed to Rashmika during their sangeet ceremony.

He had initially planned to propose in Italy in December, ahead of their February wedding, but could not find the right ring.Following the episode's release, social media was flooded with posts and reels branding Vijay a "red flag." Many users felt that his account of the proposal had humiliated Rashmika rather than acknowledge her love for him. One Instagram user shared a clip of the couple with the caption, "At this point, Rashmika loves Vijay and Vijay also loves Vijay."Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda married in Udaipur on February 26, 2026, in ceremonies celebrating their Telugu and Kodava traditions.- Ends
