Police found the 18-year-old woman 20 days after she disappeared outside a zoo in Gwalior. Her explanation that she got lost is being examined against CCTV footage of her leaving on a motorbike.CCTV footage shows the woman hopping on another man's bike before going missing for 20 days.Gwalior,Oct 28, 2026 14:49 ISTPolice in Madhya Pradesh were left scratching their heads this week after an 18-year-old married woman, who vanished outside a city zoo nearly three weeks ago, was finally located -- and offered a guileless explanation for her vanishing act: She just got lost. The bizarre saga began in Gwalior, where a 21-year-old man from nearby Shivpuri district brought his young bride for a day out at the zoo and a visit with relatives.According to police, the husband parked his motorbike near the main entrance of the zoo, leaving his wife waiting by the gate.
When he returned moments later, his wife was gone.CCTV footage quickly shattered any theory of a routine separation. CCTV cameras captured the young woman hopping onto the back of another man's bike and riding off into the distance.
The husband promptly filed a complaint with local authorities, identifying the mystery driver as a man named Arman Khan with whom he alleged his wife was involved. Police launched a search for the missing woman, registering a case against an unknown suspect while investigating the husband's claims. After a 20-day search, police located the woman, who maintained that the entire incident was a misunderstanding caused by a bad sense of direction.
During questioning, she claimed she had simply lost her way outside the zoo and flagged down a passing motorist for a lift. Police are now working to reconcile her story with the surveillance footage.A senior police officer noted that because the woman is legally an adult, she cannot be held against her will if she left voluntarily."She will be questioned in more detail," the cop said. "Since she is an adult, if she wasn't forcibly taken, she could have left on her own.
Her statement will be recorded in court, and legal action will be taken based on the circumstances that emerge after that."Police will record her formal statement in court to determine whether coercion was involved and to clarify the role of the mystery motorcyclist before deciding on further legal steps.- Ends
