New Delhi: Union Minister Piyush Goyal launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of historically misusing the office of the Election Commission. He alleged that past election officials were rewarded for favoring the party through political appointments, ministerial positions, and prestigious civilian honors such as the Padma Awards.

The remarks from the senior minister came as political tensions intensified over voter deletions, coinciding with the INDIA bloc's petition challenging the special intensive revision moving toward the Supreme Court. The top court's registry ultimately flagged several filing defects in the opposition alliance's petition.

Directly targeting Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Goyal issued a challenge for him to answer a series of ten specific questions. The minister asserted that these inquiries expose how the Congress party systematically undermined the impartiality and integrity of the poll body during its tenure in power.
