Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday highlighted the expansion of road, rail, metro and air connectivity in the state since 2017, saying improved transport infrastructure had opened up new opportunities for business, tourism and employment. In a post on X, Adityanath said the state had gone from having "one and a half expressways" before the BJP government came to power to 10 operational expressways today. He also cited 12 domestic and five international airports, along with metro services in seven cities."Road, rail and air connectivity do not merely reduce distances; they also bring convenience, save time and open up new possibilities for prosperity," he said.Adityanath said the condition of the state's transport infrastructure before 2017 had been poor and credited the expansion to the BJP's double-engine government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said better connectivity was helping farmers take their produce to larger markets, making education and employment more accessible to young people and creating opportunities for businesses. The expansion of tourism, he added, was also supporting local livelihoods."Opportunities for every sector, capacity for every enterprise and growing prosperity in the life of every family are the new identity of 'New Uttar Pradesh' in 'New India'," the chief minister said.
The remarks come as the state government continues to present infrastructure development as a key part of its economic growth agenda.Adityanath's post focused on the expansion of transport links since 2017, though it did not provide a breakdown of investment, passenger traffic or the economic gains attributed to the projects.- Ends
