Sultanpur: Rahul Gandhi has been acquitted by a special MP/MLA court in Uttar Pradesh in connection with a 2018 criminal defamation case. The legal proceedings stemmed from remarks directed at Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The defamation complaint was initially brought forward by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Mishra. The grievance centered on statements that Gandhi allegedly made during a political campaign rally held in Bengaluru leading up to the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections.
Gandhi personally appeared before the Sultanpur court to hear the final verdict in the matter. Following the proceedings, the court delivered its decision resulting in his acquittal.
