As in the previous year, Amirda Varshini, councillor, Ward 126, has initiated a slew of measures to reassure residents that her team would be available to attend to any monsoon-related issue. This time, she has launched a helpline number (8010000126) and a QR code for people in Ward 126 to report any issue.“This service is available all through the day during the monsoon time,” she says, adding that water logging, electricity-related complaints and tree fall are among the top grievances they get.Talking to The Hindu Downtown, she says that barring a few areas where storm water drain work is yet to be commissioned many other localities are ready to face the monsoon.Mandavelipakkam, parts of Mandaveli, Devanathan Street, Jeth Nagar, Trustpakkam, and fishing hamlets such as Pattanipakkam and Rajiv Gandhi Nagar are among areas that fall under Ward 126.“My big focus will be on the coastal regions as many of the houses are old and they really need help,” says Amirda.
