A Station House Officer (SHO) in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor shared a porn video on an official police WhatsApp group and has now been suspended following a departmental enquiry into the incident.The video was reportedly shared on the official WhatsApp group of the Badhapur police station around five days ago. Although it was deleted shortly afterwards, some police personnel had allegedly downloaded it, while screenshots were also saved, allowing the matter to continue circulating within the department.Subsequently, Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi ordered an investigation into the incident.
A team was constituted to examine when and how the video was shared in the official group.Earlier this week, the team visited the police station, questioned personnel present there and recorded their statements. After completing the enquiry, it submitted its report to the SP.
On Wednesday, Bishnoi suspended the inspector serving as the Badhapur SHO based on the findings of the investigation.Confirming the action to Aaj Tak, Bishnoi said a team had been formed to investigate the matter and that the suspension followed the completion of the enquiry. "The entire matter is in my knowledge. We had constituted a team to investigate the matter.
After the investigation was completed, action was taken, and we immediately suspended the SHO," he said.According to officials, the identities of the people seen in the video and the person whose voice is heard in it have not been officially confirmed in the information available about the case.The incident has prompted a swift investigation and departmental action after the obscene video was shared in a WhatsApp group meant for official police communication.- Ends
