Piyush Goyal slams EU over carbon emissions

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal questioned Europe’s climate record at the Berlin Global Dialogue on October 22, 2026. Criticising the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), he argued that developed countries should bear greater responsibility for historical emissions, noting that India accounts for less than 3% of global carbon emissions despite representing 17% of the world’s population.
