A Class VIII girl who went missing after leaving home in her school uniform was traced by the police at the Sathyamangalam bus stand within three hours on Monday (October 26, 2026).According to the police, Nivedita is the daughter of Suresh, 45, a native of Chennapatna in Karnataka, who works as a cook at the hostel of a private school in Anthiyur, where the family resides.On Monday morning, Suresh scolded his daughter for not studying properly. The girl left home around 9.05 a.m. in her school uniform and reached the school entrance but did not enter the premises.
Based on a complaint, the Anthiyur police registered a missing-person case.Special teams were formed to trace the girl. The police examined CCTV footage, alerted neighbouring districts and check-posts, and intensified surveillance.
The Sathyamangalam Highway Patrol Unit found her at the Sathyamangalam bus stand as she was about to board a bus to Mysuru.Superintendent of Police D. Kiran Shruthi commended the police personnel for tracing the girl within three hours of her disappearance.
