Kochi Synagogue Arson Bid Foiled, Accused Arrested as Police Probe Terror Angle
Police in Kerala have launched an investigation into a suspected terror plot following an attempt to set fire to a Jewish synagogue in Kochi. A man identified as Eben Paul, a resident of Ernakulam, was arrested after allegedly arriving in a vehicle at around 2:30 AM and hurling petrol at a horticulture nursery run by the synagogue trust right outside the shrine. CCTV footage captured the accused lighting an incendiary object and setting the nursery on fire before fleeing. While no injuries occurred due to the late hour, investigators are conducting forensic examinations of his phone and reviewing chat records to determine potential links to a larger group or organised network.
