CJP Leaders Sent to Tihar Jail, Delhi Police Cite Bond Breach & Jantar Mantar Trespass
Cockroach Janata Party leaders Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been sent to five-day judicial custody in Tihar Jail by Delhi Police for allegedly violating their one-year bail bond. The leaders, who were detained near Jantar Mantar, were accused of violating Section 163 and trespassing on public property. Delhi Police argued that the leaders breached the conditions of their previously executed peace bond. In contrast, fellow leader Ajinkya Shinde was released after signing a bond at Mandir Marg Police Station. Addressing the remand, the legal counsel representing the leaders, Abhish Thela, questioned the police action, arguing that no private complaint had been lodged and that Delhi Police acted on their own cognizance. Party representatives stated that the duo had merely gathered to unfurl the national flag at Jantar Mantar, with the party preparing to legally challenge the judicial custody order.
