CJP Leaders Sent To 5-Day Custody Over Jantar Mantar Protest, JDU Trespassing
Delhi Police have sent Cockroach Janata Party co-conveners Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka to five-day judicial custody following their detention near Jantar Mantar. The leaders were produced before an executive magistrate at Mandir Marg Police Station after completing nearly 24 hours in preventive detention. According to legal representatives and police submissions, the custody follows allegations of trespassing into the Janata Dal United national office to enter the denotified Jantar Mantar protest site, as well as an alleged breach of a peace bond signed earlier on 10 October. Fellow party worker Ajinkya Shinde was released after executing a fresh peace bond, as it was his first detention. The CJP legal team announced plans to move a bail application, while the party's National Working Committee convenes to finalise its next course of action.
