(Photos: rachael_fitz_/instagram) Flight announcements are usually a mix of safety instructions, weather updates and reminders to fasten your seatbelts.
But one Delta Airlines pilot decided to add a little comedy to the usual pre-flight announcement, leaving passengers in splits with jokes about a “loo with a view”, sick whales and even his own flying skills. The hilarious skit, shared on Instagram by a passenger named Rachael, has clocked over 4.7 million views, with viewers loving the pilot's infectious humour. In the video, the pilot named Nic, began with a rather unusual recommendation for anyone planning to use the lavatory.
He suggested passengers walk all the way to the back of the aircraft and use the one on the right-hand side.“There's a window in there too. It'll do with a view,” he said, before adding that he would personally prefer to pull the shade down. “So you never know who's flying by,” he joked, drawing laughs with his cheeky warning.
But the bathroom tour was only the beginning of Nic's comedy routine. Moving on to the aircraft's engines, he prepared them for some unusual sounds during the taxi. “They tend to make some funny noises.
It's gonna sound a little bit like a sick whale out there on the wing,” he explains, quickly reassuring passengers that the noise is normal. Once airborne, he said, the engines “purr like a little kitten." Nic then turned his attention to the journey ahead, assuring passengers that he was feeling particularly good that day.
While admitting there is only so much he can do, he promised to get them to their destination quickly and safely. He even throws in a playful claim about beating the scheduled travel time. The pilot also gave a sweet offer for younger passengers.
Children who wanted to visit the flight deck after landing were welcome to come up, sit in his seat and take a photograph.Towards the end, Nic thanked the passengers for flying with Delta, adding, “I love my job. You guys let me do it, so I really appreciate you.”Watch the video here:The announcement was met with applause and cheers from passengers.Viewers were just as entertained, with many praising the pilot for making an ordinary flight memorable.
