A total of 15 candidates are contesting for the post of Mayor in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) general elections–2026, Mayor Election Returning Officer B. Dayanidhi said in a release on Sunday.A total of 29 nominations were received for the GVMC Mayor’s post, of which 8 nominations were rejected, while the remaining 21 nominations were found valid.
During the withdrawal of nominations on October 21, six candidates withdrew their nominations, he said.Subsequently, in the notification issued by the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission on October 22, 2026, it was directed that the final list of candidates contesting for the post of Mayor in the GVMC elections be announced on October 25, 2026. Accordingly, 15 candidates remain in the fray for the Mayor’s post, the Returning Officer stated.Prominent candidates among them include Mukka Sravani from Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Varudu Kalyani from YSRCP (YSRCP), Devara Naga Sunanda Devi from Indian National Congress (INC), K.
