A local civic body member was thrashed by a mob after they allegedly caught him hiding under a bed at a woman's house in Bihar's West Champaran district.The man, who is a ward member, was handed over to the police following the physical assault. The incident took place in Bettiah.According to villagers, the man and the woman were suspected of being in a romantic relationship.
Locals said they learnt of the ward member's arrival at the woman's house around midnight.Soon, several people gathered at the scene and asked for the door to be opened. Once inside, they allegedly found the ward member hiding under the woman's bed.The villagers pulled him out, triggering a confrontation at the spot, per locals.
During the chaos, the crowd beat up the ward member, before informing the police.A police team subsequently reached the spot and took him to the police station, where he was being questioned.A purported video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
