The Deputy Chief Minister held a meeting with senior officials of the Energy department to review power generation, supply and pending electricity dues.

The officials informed him that the average daily thermal power generation had reached about 91 MU, while the total generation of the Genco had touched 118 million units in a single day recently.Mr. Vikramarka, who also holds the portfolio of Energy, instructed the officials to further increase generation and work towards achieving the daily target of 140 MU.

To ensure an uninterrupted coal supply to two units of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS), an alternative coal supply arrangement was made with Coal India Ltd. He stated that coal supplies through this arrangement would commence in November. The Deputy Chief Minister called for special attention to YTPS to enhance overall power generation.

Officials informed him that four units, each with a capacity of 800 megawatt, were already generating electricity and the fifth unit was synchronised with the grid on October 20. The remaining technical and operational issues were being addressed on a warfooting to bring it into commercial operation.According to the Genco officials, the average daily thermal power generation from TGGenco power plants was 65.9 MU in 2024–25 and about 76.46 MU in 2025–26.

During the current financial year, the average daily generation increased to 90.97 MU as of October 21. Compared to the previous financial year, daily generation has increased by 14.51 MU, registering a growth of about 19%.

They stated that thermal power generation had reached 118 MU on October 16.Mr. Vikramarka told officials to ensure that all units of thermal power plants operate at maximum capacity by improving the Plant Load Factor (PLF) and continuously monitoring daily generation to achieve the prescribed targets.

He also told the officials to prepare comprehensive proposals to facilitate the settlement of pending electricity dues of the closed industries through One-Time Settlement offer. Published - October 22, 2026 08:48 pm IST
