The 44-year-old actor clarified that he had not intended to misstate the festival's message about the victory of good over evil. “I apologise for an incident that happened yesterday. I was at a Dussehra event and had a slip of the tongue.

What I meant to say was, ‘No matter how powerful evil may be, truth and goodness will ultimately prevail,’” he said.Explaining the mistake, Ranbir referred to a song from Rockstar, on which he had collaborated with Rahman, and quoted a line meaning, “Whatever I want to say, my words ruin it.” He then reiterated his apology. At the Kolkata event on the eve of Dussehra, Ranbir had been speaking about the festival's relevance to the epic when he said, “Dussehra reminds us of a beautiful truth: no matter how powerful evil may be, in the end, truth and goodness will end.” The wording left social media users confused and became a talking point. The incident followed another verbal mix-up involving the film's team. At a pre-release event in Hyderabad, producer and distributor Dil Raju accidentally called Ranbir “Ranveer Singh” while praising his work.

He immediately corrected himself, saying, “We have seen all his films. One of the best actors, the best hero, is Ranveer Singh garu — sorry, Ranbir Kapoor garu.”Based on the Indian epic, Nitesh Tiwari's film also features Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
