BJP president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday urged party workers to connect younger Indians with “cultural nationalism”, saying anarchy was being used to challenge democracies across the world.Speaking at an event marking 75 years of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the BJP’s precursor, Nabin said the party’s expansion must be matched by a firm commitment to its founding principles.“As circumstances evolve and new generations emerge, we must ensure that, alongside our ideology, these younger generations are also rooted in the nation’s cultural nationalism,” he said, according to PTI.“We see today how, on a global scale, anarchy is being leveraged to challenge the democracies of various nations,” he added. Nabin said the ideals passed down by the Jan Sangh would inspire party workers to unite the country’s 140 crore citizens. He credited former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former deputy prime minister L K Advani and other leaders of the BJP and Jan Sangh with laying the foundation for the party’s growth.

Recalling the Jan Sangh’s early struggles, Nabin said the organisation had no money to print receipts, no office and no means of transport when it was founded on October 21, 1951. Its leaders, however, were determined to take their ideology to every citizen. He urged the current generation of workers to show the same resolve to fulfil their predecessors’ vision of making India a “Vishwaguru”.Nabin said today’s party workers had inherited favourable conditions, with the BJP’s ideology reaching villages and neighbourhoods and its development schemes reaching households across the country.

This, he said, placed a responsibility on them to strengthen the party further. The BJP president credited Deendayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy of “Antyodaya” with shaping the pro-poor schemes of the Narendra Modi government. He contrasted these with earlier efforts that, he said, “failed to wipe the wrinkles of poverty” from the faces of the poor.Paying tribute to Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Nabin asked workers to draw inspiration from the simplicity, dedication and struggles of the party’s founding leaders.“Together with you, I take a vow that we will strive to build and advance the BJP, aligning it with their vision, struggles and the dream they held,” he said.- Ends
