The family of 19-year-old Sumit, arrested for allegedly supplying a weapon used in the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai, has claimed he was misled and had no role in the case.His mother, Asha, said Delhi Police took him from their home in Haryana’s Sonipat, saying they only wanted to question him. The family later received a call asking them to come to Mumbai to arrange his bail, she said.Sumit was among four people arrested by Delhi Police’s Special Cell on October 20 over an alleged weapons supply network linked to gangster Anil Pandit.

The others were Kunal, 21, also from Sonipat, and Radha and Babita, both 23, from Uttar Pradesh.Sumit’s family alleged that Kunal, also known as Bhola, had lured him into accompanying him. They said a man named Nitin introduced the two through the clothing shop where Sumit had worked for three years.

Sumit studied up to Class 9, the family said. Asha said he had gone to Khatu Shyam with Nitin and returned the next day.The family lives in a rented house, and Sumit’s father works at a brick kiln.

On Pandit’s instructions, he allegedly collected a pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition from Amritsar.Kunal allegedly persuaded Radha, with whom he had developed a relationship, to carry the weapon to Mumbai.

Police allege she and Babita acted as couriers for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.On October 15, Kunal allegedly took the women to New Delhi Railway Station with the pistol in Radha’s bag. During their journey, he relayed Pandit’s instructions through an encrypted application, police said.The women reached Mumbai on October 17 and checked into a hotel near Dadar.

Around 11 am, a minor boy allegedly collected the bag from Radha near the hotel.After the firing, Pandit allegedly contacted Kunal and asked him to arrange the shooters’ escape from Mumbai.- Ends
