Noah Centineo isn’t ruling out a return to romantic comedies. The actor, who became a heartthrob after playing Peter Kavinsky in Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise, says he remains open to revisiting the genre that introduced him to a global audience. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Centineo was asked whether his shift towards different genres was a permanent move or if fans could expect to see him in romantic roles again.
The actor made it clear that he isn’t ready to shut that door. “Nothing is permanent. Especially not a genre of film or character that I choose to do.
So I’m very, very open to it,” he said. While he did not disclose whether he was considering any upcoming romantic projects, Centineo had an enthusiastic recommendation for fans of the genre.
The actor praised Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro’s on-screen chemistry in One Night Only, saying he would like to see the two collaborate on more films. “I saw him in two films, One Night Only and Eternity. I gotta say, him and Monica are just electric,” he mentioned.Sharing his reaction to their pairing, Centineo added, “I watched that movie and was screaming.
I loved it so much. They’re both so good together, and they’re so sexy and beautiful.
Their chemistry is ridiculous.” The actor also drew a comparison with the popular on-screen pairing of Matthew McConaughey and Cameron Diaz, expressing his wish to see Turner and Barbaro build a similar run of romantic films. “I wanna see them go on a run like McConaughey and Cameron. I wanna see them do more together.
That’s what I would like to see,” he said. Centineo’s association with romantic comedies goes back to his breakout role as Peter Kavinsky in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
The Netflix franchise turned him into one of the most recognisable young romantic leads of its time, with his portrayal of the charming, affectionate high-school boyfriend earning him a dedicated fan following. However, the actor has since ventured into different genres, taking on roles that allow him to move beyond the romantic lead image. He was last seen in Street Fighter, where he played Ken.- Ends
