Actor Ajay Devgn's team has issued an official statement following the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s demolition drive at a Juhu property, clarifying that the premises are rented out and not the star's personal residence.
The official statement noted that the property in question is a separate unit that has been rented out rather than the actor's home. The team explained that applications have been submitted to the civic body for requisite permissions regarding the property, and all applicable municipal rules, regulations, and guidelines are being duly followed. Necessary changes, alterations, and modifications required by the authorities have also been completed.
The clarification comes in the wake of civic action on October 12, when municipal authorities demolished portions of alleged unauthorised construction at the bungalow after internal modifications reportedly continued despite a prior stop-work order.
The sprawling property spans 7,802 square feet and is situated at Plot S-10, N S Road No. 11, in the JVPD Scheme within the Kapol Co-operative Housing Society. It was leased to Florian Hurel Salon Private Limited under a registered five-year agreement dated August 10, 2026, involving Rs 10.61 crore at an initial monthly rent of Rs 16 lakh.
While the Devgn family secured a no-objection certificate from the housing society for the lease, the society contended that its approval only permitted a leave-and-licence tenancy and did not authorize structural alterations or a commercial conversion.
Prior to the demolition, the municipal building proposal department had issued a notice on September 10 under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. The notice ordered an immediate halt to unapproved work involving Siporex blocks and partition walls, which ultimately led to the demolition action following non-compliance.
