A 16-year-old schoolgirl drowned while bathing with her sister at a local pond in Kamuthi on Sunday.Police identified the victim as M. Naganandini, a resident of Kamuthi, an 11th-grade student.According to police, the incident occurred in the afternoon when the sisters went to the Sundarapuram pond to take a bath.
Naganandini accidentally slipped into deeper waters and drowned.Her mortal remains have been shifted to the Kamuthi Government Hospital for autopsy. Kamuthi police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
