SC Registry Flags 14 Defects In INDIA Bloc Plea Against Election Commission
The Supreme Court registry has flagged 14 procedural defects in the petition filed by INDIA bloc leaders against the Election Commission of India. The petition has not yet been cleared for listing and hearing, as the registry sought clarifications on making individual election commissioners private respondents under Article 32. Other objections include the absence of signed vakalatnamas for nine of the twelve petitioners, missing signatures on affidavits, and an illegible copy of Mallikarjun Kharge's identification card alongside incomplete supporting documents. The legal team representing the opposition leaders has 90 days as per procedure to cure the errors and is working to rectify the filings.
