Rajkummar Rao: 'Jab Koi Cheez Darati Hai To Mujhe Usko Aur Karne Ka Mann Karta Hai'

Speaking in an interview on India Today alongside veteran special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, actor Rajkummar Rao discussed starring in the courtroom drama Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. Rao recounted moving to Mumbai in February 2008 and closely following the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. He revealed that director Avinash Arun, his junior from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), approached him for the biopic. Rao reflected on his initial hesitations regarding physical resemblance, admitting, "Initially I was scared because I don't-- there's no match." However, he emphasized pushing past hesitation, stating, "jab koi cheez darati hai to mujhe usko aur karne ka mann karta hai because I feel something I would push myself." Rao highlighted how the film sheds light on the legal procedures and personal sacrifices Nikam made between the 1993 blasts trial and the 2008 Mumbai attacks, answering public questions about why the 26/11 proceedings took time.
