Rahul Gandhi's Defamation Appeal, Asset Probe Challenge Listed in Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear two separate legal matters concerning Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. The first appeal challenges a criminal defamation case stemming from his 2019 campaign remark, where the Bombay High Court declined to quash proceedings. The second petition contests an Allahabad High Court order directing the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate to examine disproportionate asset allegations brought by a private complainant. Gandhi previously received interim relief halting that inquiry. While an opposition bloc plea awaits listing, the top court is set to consider these long-pending petitions.
