OnePlus launched its flagship models in China last month – the OnePlus 16 and 16R. Now, the Chinese company seems to be planning to make them available in India.
While the OnePlus 16R was previously tipped to be the company's next big launch in the country, fresh leaks suggest its more expensive sibling, the OnePlus 16, could also make its way to Indian buyers. However, if the flagship does arrive, it could come with a significantly higher price tag, potentially pushing OnePlus into a more expensive segment of the market. What leakers sayTipster Debayan Roy, known as Gadgetsdata, claims that OnePlus is working on both smartphones for India.
According to him, the OnePlus 16R is "definitely" in development, while the OnePlus 16 is "almost confirmed". This would mean the company is potentially preparing two launches rather than relying entirely on its R-series smartphone.Adding to the speculation, tipster Abhishek Yadav says OnePlus is testing global software for the flagship under three model numbers: CPH2901, CPH2903 and CPH2905.
He suggests that the phone could be available in India and a handful of other Asian markets. While these leaks point towards a possible launch, OnePlus has not officially confirmed either device for India.Pricing could be the biggest talking point.
Roy expects the OnePlus 16R to start between Rs 70,000 and Rs 75,000, while the OnePlus 16 could reportedly cost Rs 1.3 lakh to Rs 1.4 lakh in India. For context, the OnePlus 15 launched at Rs 85,999, and the OnePlus 15R started at Rs 47,999.

The smartphone also features a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, a 9,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. For photography, it gets a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The OnePlus 16R, meanwhile, could borrow hardware from the company's recently launched Ace 7 series in China.
Leaks suggest it may feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a large battery and a dedicated telephoto camera. However, reports disagree on its camera configuration and display refresh rate, so the final specifications remain uncertain.- Ends
