Singer Mika Singh revealed that his brother, Daler Mehndi, broke down crying when he called him the day after the controversy surrounding the singer's performance at an event. Mika said he was shocked by the incident and struggled to figure out how to respond, especially because he believed Daler had done nothing wrong.Addressing the media in a press conference on October 23, Mika said he got to know about the controversy after completing his own show in Surat.

He tried calling Daler that night, but the singer did not answer. Mika said he was deeply disturbed by what had happened and took time to consider how he should address the issue publicly.“When I called Paaji the next day, he broke down crying because he was emotional.

I hadn't even said anything, and he had already started crying,” Mika recalled. He added that he often speaks bluntly to his brother and might have normally reprimanded him for agreeing to perform when he was unwell. However, Daler began crying before Mika could say anything.

Mika said he told the veteran singer that he should not have agreed to perform if he was not feeling well. He also felt that Daler should have responded firmly if the minister had spoken to him disrespectfully.“I told him that if your health is not good, you should not say yes.

Secondly, if the minister scolded you, you should have responded at that moment. You should have said, ‘I have not been bought, and I am not some other singer,’” Mika recalled.

However, Daler told him that he was not comfortable raising his voice at people. Mika quoted his brother as saying, “Mika, you know I cannot speak to anyone by shouting.”According to the Dhinka Chika singer, Daler was frightened and confused by the behaviour, wondering why he was being treated disrespectfully.

Mika said he advised his brother not to answer calls or speak to anyone about the matter immediately. He added that both he and Daler later received calls from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who assured them that they would always be welcome in the state.Recalling his own experience of helping others, Mika mentioned that he had previously supported actor Rajpal Yadav by giving him a cheque for Rs 10 lakh, asking him not to publicise the gesture. He also referred to speaking up in support of Tiger Shroff after reports of a shooting incident involving the actor. However, Mika said the situation involving Daler was different because of their personal bond and his belief that his brother was innocent.“I thought about it carefully before making the video.

This was about my brother, who is innocent and has done nothing wrong,” he said. What had happened?A video that went viral earlier this week showed Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal interrupting Mehndi's concert midway and accusing him of performing under the influence of alcohol. "You can't even speak. How will you perform?" he asked Mehndi, adding that the organisers had paid the singer Rs 35 lakh and that he was disrespecting the spirit of Navratri and the audience by performing in that condition. While Mehndi has not spoken publicly about the matter yet, Mika has released multiple videos on social media, urging the Uttarakhand government to get Uniyal to apologise to his brother on camera.- Ends
