A dedicated CBI team was formed to arrest Kumar on his way from Guna to Lucknow. The team was deployed at Lucknow railway station before the trainā€™s arrival.

Around midnight, he was apprehended,ā€ the spokesperson said.The agency said that Kumar was being brought to Ranchi on transit remand. It, however, didnā€™t elaborate his role in the fodder scam cases.Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been convicted in five fodder scam cases relating to fraudulent withdrawals from the Chaibasa, Deoghar, Dumka and Doranda treasuries during his tenure as Bihar chief minister.

The multi-crore fodder scam comprises 55 cases involving alleged fraudulent withdrawals of around ā‚¹950 crore from the undivided Bihar treasury between 1992 and 1995 through fake bills for fodder, medicines and equipment.In July this year, the Supreme Court declined to cancel the bail granted to Yadav in 2021.
