Kumaran Nagar bus terminus on October 20, 2026. This has turned the terminus slippery and flyblown, and it smells bad.Kumaran Nagar bus terminus in Kolathur is unhygienic with cow dung all over the place.Commuters say that the bus services operated from the terminus are very poor, and hence the terminus remains vacant for most of the day; also, commuters hardly wait here for the buses.
So, all these have provided a conducive environment for cows to occupy the terminus.Alcohol bottles found at the terminus point to misuse of the terminus for consumption. It may be noted this terminus was redeveloped and inaugurated early this year but the facility fell into a state of neglect within a few weeks. The toilets are also unhygienic due to the erratic water supply.
The room meant for lactating mothers is kept under lock-and-key.Further, there is no timekeeper here. Commuters are clueless when the next bus would arrive.
Though there is a room dedicated for the timekeeper, it also remains locked. Services operated from the terminus need to be improved. There are buses only to Guindy and Anna Square.
Further, the frequency is also very poor and not reliable. So commuters rely on share autorickshaws to access Paper Mills Road. From there, they go to the Retteri junction or the Perambur bus terminus or the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar terminus to access buses to other places.
This is quite inconvenient. Where is the need to redevelop a bus terminus which receives poor patronage?N.
