The Chamber of Trade and Industry, representing business owners in Delhi, has made a formal appeal to the leaders of the INDIA opposition bloc to postpone their upcoming public rally scheduled for November 1 at Ramlila Maidan. Representatives of the trading community requested that the event be moved to a later date after Diwali, proposing around November 10 or 11 instead, to prevent severe commercial setbacks during the peak festive season.
According to the organization, central Delhi markets experience tremendous shopper footfall and heavy activity in the days leading up to Dhanteras and Diwali. A large-scale rally expected to draw approximately one million participants and thousands of commercial and private vehicles would heavily choke traffic throughout central Delhi. Traders emphasized that such gridlock could halt an estimated ten to twelve thousand crore rupees worth of business operations across twenty historic marketplace areas, including the prominent commercial hub of Chandni Chowk.
