Cyrus Broacha: 'The Only Way Forward In Any Democracy Is Dialogue'

In an interview, comedian, satirist, and podcaster Cyrus Broacha discussed the controversy surrounding actor Imran Khan being singled out after attending a public protest in Delhi, as well as the broader atmosphere of dissent in the country. Broacha defended the democratic right to demonstrate peacefully, stating, "I think the right to dissent and right to, uh, protest should, you know, be fulfilled if we're a democracy." He criticized excessive police action, comparing the heavy security response to a police state, and noted that prominent figures across Bollywood and other industries hesitate to speak out publicly due to an prevailing sense of fear. Broacha emphasized that the government must address dissent through constructive conversation rather than intimidation, asserting that the only way forward in any democracy is dialogue, conversations, and explanations.
