New Delhi: The Delhi Police has issued a no-objection certificate allowing the Congress to stage a one-day demonstration at Ramlila Maidan on November 1 as part of the INDIA bloc's ongoing campaign opposing the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The clearance clears the path for organizers to commence preparations for the gathering, which was initially announced by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Central district, Rohit Rajbir Singh, stated that the political party sought police clearance after confirming the venue's availability from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Singh noted that Ramlila Maidan, along with CBD Ground and Burari Ground, serves as a designated site for protests.

After verifying the ground's availability from October 25 through November 3, law enforcement authorities reviewed security needs and held discussions with party representatives before issuing the certificate. Organizers will submit the clearance to the municipal agency to finalize venue bookings and begin setup operations.

Police officials are coordinating with event organizers, traffic authorities, and other relevant departments to establish law and order protocols, traffic control measures, and secure management for the scheduled event. The broader political campaign was agreed upon during an opposition bloc meeting to challenge the electoral roll revision process and advocate for elections conducted via ballot papers rather than electronic voting machines.

The opposition alliance's campaign follows previous reports regarding internal disagreements within the Election Commission over the revision procedures. While the poll panel has faced increased scrutiny, it maintained that differing perspectives form a normal part of institutional discussions and that its directives possess full legal backing.
