Patna,Nov 4, 2026 23:57 ISTThe Bihar government has removed IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh from the post of Khagaria Superintendent of Police and called him to the police headquarters in Patna, amid a marital dispute that has led to a harassment complaint against him.Shailendra Singh, who was serving as the Superintendent of Police of Sheohar, has been appointed as the new Khagaria SP. Mohibullah Ansari has been named the new SP of Sheohar.Bhanu Pratap Singh has been in the news over allegations levelled against him by his wife, Pooja Singh.

She had approached the Mahila Police Station in Patna late Monday night, accusing her husband and in-laws of harassment. She also alleged that Bhanu Pratap Singh was not allowing her to meet or speak to their six-year-old daughter.Police had confirmed receiving the complaint but said no FIR had been registered so far, as the matter was under investigation.

Bihar Secretariat official Anu Kumari had said, "We have received the complaint, but no FIR has been lodged so far. The matter is under investigation."Pooja Singh had also staged a protest outside the Chief Minister's residence in Patna a few days ago, seeking intervention in the matter.

She said she did not want a divorce and hoped to rebuild her relationship with her husband and daughter. She had told reporters that she married Bhanu Pratap Singh in 2016, when he was preparing for the civil services and was unemployed.

Bhanu Pratap Singh is a 2021-batch IPS officer.Pooja Singh had also approached the police headquarters in Patna to register her objections over the dispute. She said she was willing to withdraw her police complaint if her husband agreed to resolve the matter.Bhanu Pratap Singh was not available for comment till the time this report was filed.- Ends
