Allahabad High Court advised young advocates to prioritise studies and case preparation over social media popularity. The remarks stressed uninterrupted proceedings and the shared dignity of the Bar and Bench.Prayagraj,Oct 30, 2026 23:04 ISTThe Allahabad High Court has advised young lawyers to focus on their studies, case preparation and careers instead of seeking likes on social media, news agency Press Trust of India reported.Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal made the observation on Friday amid protests and disruptions on the court premises.

He said some social media posts about the functioning of the high court contained incomplete and distorted information that could create unnecessary differences between the Bar and the Bench. The observations were made while the court was hearing the bail plea of a person named Rajesh. The matter arose after some advocates stopped other lawyers from entering Justice Deshwal's courtroom during the protests, according to PTI.During the hearing, the court heard a woman advocate seeking entry to attend her case.

It said judicial proceedings could not be stalled merely because a section of advocates did not want the court to function when most lawyers wished to argue their cases. “Young advocates should concentrate on their studies as well as on preparing their cases to build their careers instead of concentrating on increasing their social media likes,” the court observed. It added, “Such conduct on the part of some advocates is not conducive to the reputation and dignity of the Bar as well as the court.”The court said advocates command respect in society because the public places its trust in the high court.

It asked the Allahabad High Court Bar Association to examine the issues and take appropriate steps to uphold the dignity of the court, noting that the dignity of advocates includes both private and government lawyers. The court's observations underlined that proceedings should continue when lawyers wish to present their cases and urged young advocates to prioritise professional preparation while protecting the dignity of the Bar and the Bench.- Ends
