NEW DELHI: Thousands of members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and various students gathered at Delhi University to stage a major protest march titled 'Arajakta Hatao, Loktantra Bachao' directed against the Congress Party and left-wing student organisations. Protesters carried placards bearing slogans such as 'Samvidhan ke samman mein ABVP maidan mein', accusing opposition and Left-leaning parties of fostering anarchy and showing disrespect toward the constitution.
The large-scale demonstration was organized in response to ongoing political friction triggered by controversial remarks concerning regime change made by Left student leader Neha Bora. Additional tensions have stemmed from ongoing disputes involving Chief Election Commissioner Ganesh Kumar. During the march, demonstrators vocally accused their political opponents of repeatedly bypassing established constitutional norms.
The confrontation at Delhi University is part of a broader political mobilization, coinciding with related protest marches initiated by the Bharatiya Janata Party across the country to counter the influence of the Left-Congress alliance.
