According to preliminary information, the group was returning from Hardoi after attending a mundan ceremony when a truck approaching from behind crashed into their tractor-trolley.The collision caused the trolley to overturn, leaving several passengers trapped beneath it.
Five women died at the scene, while 17 others sustained injuries. Police and rescue personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and shifted the injured to hospitals for treatment.
The district administration said arrangements were being made to ensure that all injured people received adequate medical care.District Magistrate Raja Ganapati R and Superintendent of Police Ankur Agarwal also reached the spot and directed officials to ensure that the injured were taken to the district hospital and provided proper treatment. - Ends
