Telangana: A church pastor from the state's Lakshmipet area has turned years of accumulated spare change into a brand-new motorcycle, walking into a local showroom with Rs 1.23 lakh paid entirely in Rs 10 coins.
Ravi Joseph, a resident of Lakshmipet located in the Mancherial district, gradually built up the substantial sum by setting aside the change left over from his daily household shopping and grocery purchases.
Joseph began collecting the coins three years ago as he bought vegetables, groceries, and other daily necessities. Instead of spending the small amounts, he systematically put them aside, allowing the collection to grow until it reached the required vehicle amount.
What started as an unusual habit ultimately helped him address a practical need. Joseph already owned an older motorcycle, but that vehicle had grown unreliable and was no longer functioning properly, prompting him to seek a replacement.
Initially, Joseph's family expressed apprehension about his unconventional method of saving small-denomination coins for such a major purchase. It took time for his plan to gain their confidence, but his wife and children eventually offered their full support.
That encouragement helped Joseph maintain his commitment as the coin collection steadily expanded over the three-year period, culminating in enough savings to successfully purchase the new motorcycle.
